Stuff Happens, almost a year later

From the look of the photos, transposing the thumb ought to be fairly easy.  Easiest if you can take the hand off of Gruss' arm though.

Were it me I'd carve the thumb away (with most of that recessed area around it) first, not worrying about the state that edge of the hand is left in; it'll look better for some gs no matter how careful you are.

I see two options for reattaching the thumb.  One; glue thumb and surrounding plastic in place and blend to the hand with gs.  Two; trim excess plastic back to the ball joint and make a new thumb socket using a half-round file.  It doesn't need to be deep, just large enough that the thumb's ball joint looks 'right' in it.  Option one makes the hand more human-shaped but noticeably wider than it currently is, while I think option two has extra creepy factor.

Finally cover the hole left where the thumb used to be with gs and blend it in.

You might want to switch the fingers around too if you're the thorough type.  But personally I reckon they'll look more sinister left as they are.

That sounds like a fair bit of work (when written down), But i am sure its perfectly doable, Option two does sound better but ill probably end up going with option 1 just because it seems quicker and this will be the 4th alteration made to the hand and frankly its annoying the piss out of and i just want to move on with the project,  as a small bit of progress on the demon host its got abit of paint on it today as i painted the potato sack that it wears, i went with Citadels new Moot Green i know its birght and garish but quite frankly it closely matches my favourite colour and shade of green and so had to be used and since this warbands leader is essentially the personification of my own insanity it had to be as i need to tie the demonhost model into the rest of the warband. i also think it will contrast nicely with the drab grey stone i have planned for the rest of the model (its supposed to be a gargoyle who formerly stood watch aboard the bridge of an imperial ship before the ship itself became possessed and the gargoyle is now what the demon/ship uses as its physical representative on the mortal plane) - Those of you who are part of the RT group and paid attention to my Event Horizon spoiler TOTALLY DISREGARD THIS
