Hello all, with my interest in Inquisitor well and truly back in full swing I decided to get a warband sorted out for the IGT '11.

As a side note I haven't got any stats or background for these guys yet, I'm still working on it but will have it up by late this evening hopefully.

Shas'vre I'len Mont'ka K'ur'ys

Rakin

So that's two characters painted, i wasn't too please with how the Kroot's skin came out but I didn't know what other colours would work. As for the Fire Warrior the photos didn't exactly do him justice but I'm pleased with him.

Ciao for now conclavers :)

I do love that Shas'vre model. I've got one myself sitting unloved in my box which I must do something with at some point.

What else are you planning for the warband? Do you have the Water Caste?

Nice striking colour scheme too - you don't see enough red Tau ;)

Stormgrad

im loving the tau it makes a pleasent change to see something so different

kierkegaard

Looks good to me (nice colour scheme.)

Where does one go about buying the (not a) Fire Warrior model?

I dropped a PM to Papah via this thread on Coolminiornot:

I believe he also posts on Advanced Tau Tactica

Zirone

Thanks for the feedback :)

@axiom: I don't have the Water Caste model unfortunately, ebay fails me it seems :(

@ kierkegaard: I sent an email to him expressing my interest here's his email papahminis@gmail.com

I intend to add two more characters to the warband; a Tau Silent Hunter (as per Kaled's rules and also using the Eversor as a base) and an Earth Caste engineer.

The Silent Hunter will be started on friday when I go in store to collect the Eversor model. I'm a bit stuck on what to do for the engineer, i was thinking maybe doing a Tau version of Isaac Clarke from Dead Space.

Ok, now you've peaked my curiosity.What are axioms 1 and 2?  :)

Axiom no.1: if in doubt, paint it black.

Axiom no.2: if in doubt, add more water.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that I'm waiting on some resin bases, the ones seen in the photos are just placeholders until they arrive :)

greenstuff_gav

good to see someone else painting the nifty "alien commander"... how'd you make the new shoulder pad?

if i were you, i'd check with Kaled about using non-gw miniatures in the GT...
i make no apologies, i warned you my ability to roll ones was infectious...

Meh. The staff never pay that much attention.

The rule about models is based on GW's policy at WHW and says;
'54mm scale model. Models must be made predominantly from parts available from Games Workshop's range of Citadel Miniatures or scratch-built. PC models must abide by the principle of "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG). Models must be painted in at least two colours.'
However I'm pretty trusting, so won't be asking where you got your models.  I cannot answer for the WHW staff - in the past they haven't cared if non-GW models were used, but if they do decide to enforce the rules then their decision is final.

I imagine that even if they do look, they'll see "Tau. Must be one of ours". The WHW staff's knowledge of the Inquisitor range is notoriously lacking.

Still, I would steer away from using any non-GW models in the painting competition. They've made it through before, but actually having the model studied up close by the staff does seem like asking for trouble.
S.Sgt Silva Birgen: "Good evening, we're here from the Adeptus Defenestratus."
Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".

And if they see one Fire Warrior they may well give us the benefit of doubt and conclude he's scratch built, but if there's a load of identical ones then questions might be asked...
