An adept, a feral psyker and a tainted noble walk into a bar...

This unlikely trio are forming the basis of the warband I hope to have at the Autumn Conclave.  I'll need to get cracking on with the paint to have them done by then though!

The tainted noble is based on this creepy gentleman from the Radical's Handbook for Dark Heresy.  I loved the archetype the moment I saw it, and wanted my own debased member of the ruling classes delving into things he shouldn't.

Underneath the ProCreate is Josef's torso on Toothpick Murke's legs.  The arms are from Von Castellan, and the laspistol is a cut down Inquisitor lasgun.  The walking stick is the Rod of Torment from Fabius Bile.

Up next is the feral psyker, which was based on the idea of a witch doctor.  He is grasping a voodoo doll, complete with pin through the eye, which was inspired by Phil Kelly's Ghaustos model from the birth of the game.  I've used the severed hand from Sergeant Stone as the right hand on the model - it looks like it's unleashing some psychic chicanery.  He also has a ratty minion - this will be used to represent the Beastmaster power from my DM psyker article.

Lastly is the adept, a frail scribe, ancient beyond ken.  That's the Watercaste body, with the Sacred Writ from the Thorian on his back.  He walks with the Navigator's cane, and carries the Xyclos Needler, which will represent some piece of ancient archeotech.  I'm thinking a pistol that selects a toxin based on the weaknesses of the foe it's presented with.  Guitar wire to be added!

Comments and criticism welcome.

Excellent stuff! I've always loved that corrupted noble from the Dark Heresy rulebook, and I'm glad someone has finally got around to making a model of it, can't wait to see it painted :)

Something about the scribe doesn't sit right with me though. I think his shoulders are far too broad for such a frail footprint. Maybe pad the hem of the robe out a little bit? It looks like he's suffering from Barbie-feet...

Now that I'm looking at the picture with the white paper behind, his shoulders are too broad.  Should be a fairly simple fix once the ProCreate is set.  Might make the hem a bit wider too.

Excellent work on all three. The psyker is my favourite, the totems and voodoo doll are great and the beard's very fitting. The scribe may seem like he has barbie feet, but beneath his cloak, is there a creepy biomechanical monoleg?

Project update time:

The Noble is more or less done, though I might try again with his make up.  White powder is proving tricky to pull off...

Painting has started on the other two, but my shoulder is playing up something awful today.  Hopefully it will be a bit better next week so I can get them finished for the Autumn 'Clave.

It's all fun and games until someone shoots their own guy with a Graviton gun instead of the MASSIVE SPIDER.

Up next for consideration is the feral psyker, minus his ratty friend.

The photos don't convey it too well, but there is a plaid pattern to his cloak.  Unsurprisingly, the lighting in northern Scotland in October is not exactly blaring sunshine...  Keeping the Celtic theme going is the knot on his tabard.

Had fun painting him.  Quite a bit different to most of the models I've been doing recently.  Feral worlders are a nice distraction!

I think he's brilliant! Makes me want to do my own feral psyker now...

Thank ye kindly gentlemen.

I'm downing brushes now ahead of tomorrow, and have just about painted the adept.  First up though is the rat that will hopefully be summoned with regularity by the psyker on Saturday:

I decided that some tiger stripes would really make this little bugger look more than just your average two-headed rat...

The adept's paint scheme has vexed me all week.  Tradition dictates that grey is the colour of the robes of a mid-level member of the administratum, but both the Fenris Grey base that I tried first and the Adeptus Battlegrey re-paint that I did today just do nothing for me.  I won't be touching him again before the weekend, but suggestions are welcome for his robes!

I've settled on rules for his needle pistol too - if an aim action is taken, the cogitator hardwired to the pistol will assess the target and attempt to synthesise a specific poison for the needles.  The cogitator has a Sagacity of 50, and if a Sagacity test is passed, the target has a modifier to his Resistance test equal to the amount the Sg test was passed by.  The needles then work as per the Bloodfire Toxin.
