Thanks guys! I think the problem I had was having too many plans for an alternate left hand... <_<

Originally it was left off to make modelling and painting easier, but I've been dry fitting a bunch of other things onto it. Artemis' power sword fits really well, but I also quite fancy Tyrus' bolt pistol...

OK looking at that awesome hulking arbites dude brings a question to mind. It's an ogryn used for the base right? now... would an ogryn with a head swap for a more "normal" 54mm head look ok in terms of the size of the neck and the position or am I stuck with trying to work out a way to disguise the gormless expression without the character being faceless?

Lord Borak

Well.............. That rocks. 7 months? Wow. that's actually pretty quick!  ;D

I'm not sure to be honest, I never checked! I had picked up a box set of the new(ish) plastic Ogryns/Bullgryns over Christmas as I really liked the gas-masked heads and giant silly riot shields. The bionic legs were actually a product of Short Leg Syndrome, and I didn't fancy remodelling entire lower legs so I decided bionics would be easier. Foolish, foolish me.

Regarding a 54mm matchup, I've still got some bodies spare, so I'll have a look tonight and post some comparison pictures up. Regarding this guy though, I wanted him to be very sturdy-looking and visually exaggerate his key traits. He's a slow chap (the only proper Inquisitorial Acolyte I have with Speed 3...) but he's built like the back end of a Baneblade

I chose the ogryn Bone 'Ead head because it had so much character - bionic eye, shouty face, silly moustache. It's a shame I've lost so much of it under the helmet, but hey ho. The rest are a bit gormless, but I have plans for them as servitors though, so I think they will work just fine.

I know right! I can't believe it took me so long. After blitzing him this weekend, I've almost finished the paint job too. If only I had the commitment to see a paint job through to completion rather than trying to fix up some other models from the Box of Shame...

Awesome will be stoked to see the pics! Really helpful if the physical bulk is ok it will be great for reaaaasomably cheapish gang thugs or guard combat vets/servitor bodies.

Pictures!

And one without the shield. I'm still not sure I'm even doing an alternate left hand, but it's staying loose for now, just in case.

Honestly, I don't think he's got enough Gold on him.

I mean. Egads! It burns my eyes! Great paint job all round. Love the glowy blue cattle prod.

Hmm, there are a few spaces I could squeeze some more gold on him... It finally gave me a use to break out the gold spray paint I've been hoarding for years - screw painting all that by hand!

it's very cool, very baroque and needlessly vulgar in a show of wealth I could see him as a governor's honourguard.

The particular highlight for me is the Aquila wings on the leg armour.  It's a great detail that really brings the model together as a character in ceremonial armour.

Paint job's not half bad either...

Thanks! I was worried that the wings might have been a bit much actually. When the brass aquilas turned up from forgeworld I went a bit overboard.

He's supposed to be a veteran Adeptus Arbites in his Sunday best, is it not coming across all that well? Hmm.. Maybe I didn't give him enough wings...

no it comes across really well, definitely a dress uniform look, something like an honour guard in dress uniform. Someone still capable of kicking the [EXCOMMUNICATE] out of anything that is a problem but showing off the wealth and power of his organisation. That's why I said Governor's bodyguard or the entourage of the Arbites Marshal for the sector.

Is there some sort of specific arbites Insignia that exists in canon that you could use to make it more obvious on first glance? I mean he is obviously Imperial and law enforcement but the arbites as an org are usually depicted in black and the planets enforcers in blue so the gold doesn't immediately make me think Arbites. However he does look Awesome.

RobSkib

Yeah the main one is the Adeptas 'I' with a clenched fist in the centre. I had thought about incorporating it into the design but I didn't for whatever reason. The bronze colour is the armour colour from his precinct on a very sunny planet. I figured they would polish up their armour so they would reflect as much light as possible to be both a literal shining example of Imperial law and to bedazzle any perps who want to try their luck. Next arbitrator will definitely be more black however!

Damn that's gorgeous. Excellent work Rob.

Finally got round to finishing/updating my second warband member, ex-military smuggler Hecate Trellio. For anybody who remembers or cares to scroll back through the thread, she originally sported a blank white bionic arm and bland shotgun. The original intention was to make it stand out and to show that despite her fairly rough 'n' ready appearance, she was well-connected enough to earn a decent prosthetic.

However, it stood out a little too much, and I agree with the comments about it being too sci-fi rather than grimdark, looking more like something out of 'I, Robot' than 40k. Since then she's had a little makeover - mostly tidying up the base and adding a few finishing touches, but the key new additions are the change of colour in the bionic from a flat white to a worn, brazen brass, and adding some hazard stripes to the shotty to make it stand out a bit more.

Let me know your thoughts!
