A man walks into Warhammer World wearing a hat like that, people know he's not afraid of anything... ;D
S.Sgt Silva Birgen: "Good evening, we're here from the Adeptus Defenestratus."
Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".

once again; thanks to Robey for organising this and to everyone who came and all those who suffered the terrible dice rolls that my presence seems to cause :D

Piiiiiiics!
i make no apologies, i warned you my ability to roll ones was infectious...

I'd like to second the thanks-the day was a lot of fun all round. In honour of a particularly dramatic moment, here is a short Haiku-
Poor noble Marech
Noone till the end could see
Your brave heart of fire
Poor noble Marech
Noone 'till the end could see
Your brave heart of fire

A day that I very much enjoyed, even if I only performed mediocrely.

I shall be turning the notes and pictures I took into various reports over the next few days, so look out for those.

Must say I'm pleased to see that set aside the cathedral for you guys, perfect for Inquisitor. They'd hidden it away the last time I was down (Spring Conclave 09).
It's all fun and games until someone shoots their own guy with a Graviton gun instead of the MASSIVE SPIDER.

Next year I'll budget ahead better.  I started putting the warband's leader back together yesterday in honour of the missed tournament.

The collection of photos I took. Some of them are flawed photos, but they're up here anyway.

Feel free to use them as you please.

Just browsed some of the pics from the day and it looks like it was a fantastic event. :D

To add to the odd things which Marco does with his spare time, I offer this...

Hanja vs. Liwet, compared to the Original

I recall PO commenting about dice in photos at the IGT because "it makes it look like a game, rather than a scene" (or words to that effect), to which my somewhat sarcastic response was "That's what Photoshop's for". Either way, I decided to follow up on that statement and ran with the idea, extracting any obvious indicators of the game - dice, bases, terrain edges and all.

It's not perfect, but I wasn't going for a masterpiece - it was mostly an experiment into the feasibility of such a thing.

...I quite like it. Although, if I'm doing it again, I'll have to try and take photos without using the flash so I can get more natural lighting.

Very nice work Marco.  Out of curiousity, how long did it take you to do that?
I like to remember things my own way... Not necessarily the way they happened.

Great pictures all.  Love the photoshop work.  I've just noticed the objective globe from the final scenario I played is all glowy when the flash is used  :).
I had better point out, that some of the clubs I represent are of a military bent.

You know what you are?  A plywood shark!

Depends on the part of the image.

Removing the edges of terrain, hiding dice and other similar stuff is a few seconds. Removing the bases is the lengthiest process, as it involves getting a cut out of the base, then searching for something to take the place of the base*, then blending it all in.

*What you see under Hanja's base is actually more or less what's actually there - I found a good picture of the area from a similar angle to cut in. The other bases were replaced by whatever parts I could find amongst the other photos to copy.

I guess it took a couple of hours total, but part of that was experimenting with different techniques. If I got into the swing of things, I figure less than an hour is possible - less again if it were a simpler photograph.

I'm planning on giving one or two of the other photos I took a similar treatment, so I'll see how long those take.

More of the shop of the photo...

Orla vs. Lyra - compared to the original.

This one did take longer, partly because there were more bases to remove, and also because I went a little over the top on the effects for Orla's energy blade.

Lightsabers were one of the first things I learnt to do in Photoshop, and something I quite enjoy doing, but I wanted to take the energy blade further than that. The background for the Sollex-Aegis energy blade makes me think of something much less subtle with a very raw and scarcely contained power.
So, I figured on it being much brighter than the contained and dull glow of a lightsaber - which gave me the opportunity to do lots of shadows and highlights.

Again, a few flaws (some of the old shadows didn't want to be completely excised, among other things) - but I'm no master of Photoshop.

This is actually quite fun, taking these scenes and re-envisioning them.
