Inquisitor Hanja is a young Inquisitor, yet to chose an Ordos, and still establishing his identity as an agent of the Emperor's will. He was first recruited as an agent for the Inquisition on his ability as a staff fighter, being one of youngest the fighting masters of the slave class of Krindi. Manumitted on his masters death, he sought work away from the prejudice of his homeworld, making his way as a gambler, pitfighter, armsman for hire.

He survived untainted an expedition into chaos held territory, and passed from master to master as a hireling, until Inquisitor Altus detected his latent psychic powers, which were instrumental in preventing demonic incursion on Damsken IX. A Rival Inquisitor Telemachus, accused Altus of using a Deamonic Augument, and Hanja was tested, declared pure, and sent to the Blackships. On his return he was placed at the disposal of the Conclave of Haggen-Scrid as an explicator. It was over a Decade ago that he was elevated to Inquisitor, and since then he has been dealing with everything from radical Inquisitors and their demon hosts, vast corruption in planetary governments, cults and xeno's to Adaptus Mechanicus delving into things best left unknown.

He is more subtle than some Inquisitors, his past among the poor of the Imperium aids him in infiltrating a world, posing as a traveling monk, gambler, or armsman for hire. He intends to cut out the rot in the Imperium with a scalpel, rather than burn the heretics, and the galaxy with them. One of his long running entanglements is with Magos Kryzak, with whom a emnity, and grudging respect has been formed.

Equipment: Force Staff, Laspistol with 3 reloads, 2 knives(1 in coat, Ceremonial Silver, 1 in boot), Flak Coat, Padded Flak Vest And Shoulder Guards Give him Armour 4 on Torso, Armour 3 on all other locations except His Head. Hunter Skull with BioScanner, Comlink.

Special Abilities:
Staff Fighter: May feint with a Staff, When parrying with a Staff first count as a Buckler (Full WS, 3/4 WS ect.). Use normal parry penalty when counter attacking. Counts as Double Damage for Knockback Purposes when using a staff. -15 WS when not using a Staff.

Unegen Batu.
A Tall, Strong Man, who still dresses in his Traditional Sarong. To See him in Battle, Charging with a Shield like a Brick wall, and a Flail like Lightning, you would be surprised to see him in his Masters Favourite role. Cooking Traditional Flat breads to go with his Masters Favourite Hot Spiced Meat dish.

Born on the  feral world of Mirium, Unegen was a Warrior. Untill his Tribe was captured by the ‘civilized’ overseers of his world, and put to work. Unegen attempted escape, and was sentenced to the gladiatorial pits. Ungen only escaped death, when an Offworlder bought him.
This Offworlder wished for a guide, and with Unegen’s help, they were able to infiltrate the tribes as a traveling merchant. Unegen was puzzled by the Offworlders actions, he seemed to spend most of his time talking with Chieftains, not trading. It was only the Oath of Loyalty, on the Warrior-Emperor’s name that stopped Unegen deserting. That and the Laspistol the Offworld always had near at hand.  

The offworlder was the then explicator Hanja. And the events that followed after they returned to ‘civilization’, showed Unegen had been right to honour his oath. With Overseer’s on the Planet executed for falsifying military tithe information, and declaring Loyal, motivated warriors as heretical, fit only for simple labour. The Warrior-Emperor began Recruiting fine regiments instead of slaves, Unegen found a new life open to him. One of Travel and Glory and Service to He on Terra.

 Unegen has served as Hanja’s Personal Valet, Bodyguard, and Companion ever since, and has stayed true to his oath.  Often, He and his Master can be found Sparing together. Though he has mounted an Electroflail atop his old weapon and the Armoplas shield  he uses is not traditional, any Ancestor of his would be pleased to see the havoc wreaked upon the enemies of the Warrior-Emperor

Good Cook:
The Men of Unegen’s tribe are not accounted great cooks but Unegen has found an unusual talent. Unegen has an amazing ability to rustle up a decent meal, even if it is from the most basic ingredients. People alway’s react positivly to his cooking.

Rifleman J.R.  Verger
 Rifleman Verger, initialed, rather than named, J.R. was born on the world of Brimdine IV, in a system that had lost contact with the Imperium for 300 Years, weather this was due to administrative error or warp storms is unclear, however, when recontacted by tithe fleets, the Adaptus Adminstrum were given reports of possible heresy, and unwillingness to pay military tithes, due to a Cult known as the ‘New Word’. The Inquisition was called in, and the then Explicator Hanja assigned to investigate.

Posing as a veteran from one of the other planets in system, Hanja infiltrated the cult, and reported, much to the displeasure of the systems governance that the new word was, in fact, a loyal cult. The Rulers of the system Persecuted it because they feared the change imperial reintegration posed, and their own version of the Imperial Cult was unable to accept the New Cult’s claims. The New Word’s message was dangerously unrestive during isolation, but proved perfect for recruitment for the guard, it’s message of war against the heretic and blasphemer creating almost double expected recruitment for the first tithe of guard regiments. Hanja’s report allowed a whole planets Planetary defense force to be integrated into the imperial cult.

It is from these regiments that Inquisitor Hanja now draws Forces when necessary, they regard Hanja as a personal messenger from the emperor beyond the storms. The Bearer of the ‘New Word’ is now an Imperial Martyr, executed before recontact, along with all but one of his disciples. That last Man is Rifleman Verger. He has become a permanent addition to Hanja’s staff, helping in the integration of new troops and providing battle field support to the Inquisitor where Required. His Faith is Unshakable, as he has seen the prophecies come true in his own life time, and knows, no matter his death, the emperor’s grace awaits him.

Apart from 'Physic' powers ("I destroy you with my knowledge of quantum mechanics!"  ) and the odd Random Capitalisation, this seems pretty good.  Your guys are powerful, but not excessively, and what they gain in high WS/S/T/BS, they generally make up with lowish armour.

Seems like a good band to me, and the models are excellent!

On the whole I dislike the 'latent psychic powers, discovered late into his training' plot, but this is because it is so over used. If it were up to me, this character would be one of the few I'd allow to keep it.

The stats, abilities and equipment of Hanja are all more than fine, the staff master rule being particularly appropriate.
His powers come from a wide range of disciplines, but they are fairly staple powers which sets him up nicely as a non-specialist psyker.

Batu is really good, I have nothing to critisize or advocate that could improve him.

Verger's Bs is a bit high in my opinion, given that his background doesn't suggest he is a master shot or even a particulary veteran shooter. As he is PDF too, unless I have misunderstood, I'd suggest a much more average guardsman Bs, around about 65, or else justifying a higher value in the background.

Also his weapon doesn't look like the type of lasgun that is generally seen in Necromunda and therefore recognised as the Necromunda class. I'd make up a name for it and then note that it is as a Necromunda pattern but with range D. Marco Skoll's lasgun rules should help to balance the power of the frankly pathetic las weapons against the auto- equivalents. Until then I'd advocate also giving the rifle a full(6) mode and the high power options to do +3 damage at range C for double ammo use, and then also either +1 base damage, an added high power mode of +5 damage at range G for quadruple ammo usage, increasing the full mode to full( or maybe give it double the powercell capacity.

That's assuming the psychic powers are natural. I've only out up his summaried backstory, being as I've been using the character in RP's since before he even had a Laspistol. Initially he was just a dude with a stick. The Regis Endeavor was an RP back on the board before last, maybe older. His exposure to chaos and demons has been much higher than healthy. When he was checked for Deamonic Taint, Altus Cheated by pumping him full of the same stuff that make psycannon rounds work. Thats a Plot point I've been keeping under my hat for a while, but I'll explore it soon I think.

Prone Position Down:
Verger is excellently drilled. When taking a prone position, he may combine it with an aim action at no penalty.

Verger is my Standard Guardsman, and I play him as what I would do, following modern infantry tactics. So he pretty much always takes cover, then takes aim, and then starts shooting. Frustrating when you keep running out of actions, but worth it for the fun.

Prone Position Down

But Can Anybody See the Enemy? Actually I think this is a good idea for a skill though I would probably have done it differently, something like:

If the character aware that he is being shot at, or aware that shots are being fired close to him, then at the end of the shooting action he may take an I test. If he passes he may instantly as a combined action go prone within three yards of his location and fire unaimed at the shooter, or in the general direction if he doesn't know where they are. This is out of the turn sequence and he also need not test for pinning. If he fails then he may test again at the end of the next enemy shooting action. The shooting action takes all the normal penalties for being unaimed and a combined action.

This way the whole down - aim - shoot sequence is still an action faster than normal, but it applies to coming under enemy fire. He gets the characterful first R from RTR too, with a low chance of pinning but not much else.

I like your version of the rules, but it seems a little powerful to me, maybe if he passes the test he can do it at the end of the turn, and if he fails he must do it at the start of his next turn.

With that modification, think it'd be fair combined with the Prone Position rule down I already have?

My proposed rule was as an alternative to your 'prone position down'. Together I'd say they are too powerful. I favour mine as, though it might be more effective when used, it is only applicable when he is contacted and not if he is in the advantageous position. I'd discourage you from using both, so choose the one that you think bests fits the drills he does.
