Witchhunter Lok

My first new model in a while (shortly to be followed by the rest of the eversor which, however, requires a lot of work to make it less scary).

Still needs painting, and I'm not entirely happy with the left arm - the angle of the elbow's a problem.

Modified to include better photos.  Tutorial found & natural light caught  :).

The head is the eldar ranger spare, and I've just noticed that my puritan witchhunter is sporting a runic eldar earring.
I had better point out, that some of the clubs I represent are of a military bent.

this looks promising. from what I can make out the pose looks cool and the use of parts (Bounty hunter eversor and slicks head?) is nice. The photos are pretty terrible though...

Try taking photos in natural light with a sheet of white paper as the background and use the macro function on your camera (looks like a flower).

If you do a search I seem to remember Marco Skoll did a pretty good tutorial on taking good pictures of miniatures somewhere...

He's off to a very good start. I never thought that components from the eversor assassin would fit in so well with the rest of the range. :D

Emperors stabbed thumbs!  The eversor model was never meant to be parted from it's head, but I managed it in the end.  Still alot to do - the left arm is the easiest part to use elsewhere by a long way.

I've started painting Lok, and updated the photos.

No further progress on Lok, but I've started work on the companion piece - a laboriously beatified eversor model.
I'm quite pleased with the overall result.  Obviously he neds guns - I'm thinking a pistol in his boot and a grenade launcher strapped to the left arm, which I'm thinking would be fun in game.

Nice use of the evesor model, I like the power shortsword a lot. It has never occured to me that a 40k sword would work so well.

I'd say remove the ariel, as it make the model look too much like the evesor, and the left hand is just begging to be replaced with one holding a gun.

Is that a Tau symbol on his chest? What's the story behind that?

Nice tip on the ariel.  The left hand will at some point hold a gun.

That is a tau symbol.  The concept, originally suggested by Robey, is to have a former tau mercenary who is now 'reformed' and working for the inquisition (or maybe the hrud).  It needs fleshing out, but I thought the armour could be part 'borrowed' from his erstwhile employers.  And, of course, the skull had to go  :).

I'd have trhought that if he abandoned the tau he would remove the symbol. Keeping it will make him certainly unpopular and probably dead in loyalist circles. Maybe a Tau antennia could hint at the origin of the suit, without displaying xenos allegience.

MarcoSkoll

Agreed.

Tau armour, maybe. Tau symbols, no - many Inquisitors would practically shoot him on sight for bearing such a visibly non-imperial symbol.

I rather like the tau symbol though  :'(

Maybe he'll just have to be an outlaw - it isn't as if his current employer (Lok) uses official channels these days.

Point worth considering, the implications of openly wearing a Tau symbol can work two ways, depending on who he's dealing with. In some situations, it could be useful to be mistaken for a mercenary in Tau employ.

and now I have cereal all over my bedsheets. thanks man. very very amusing.

new model looks nice. I am inclined to agree with Marco et al about the Tau symbol but it would be perfectly possible to justify it through character background.

I suppose he could wear the standard robe (with hood), or a trench coat or a poncho over the symbol when he isn't trying to kill everyone but has to be subtle.

Isn't it just the one from the Everor model?  (Which may well be based on a 40k one, I can't find mine to compare.)

I don't have a problem with the Tau symbol, it looks good.  Although if he's working with the Inquisition rather than the Hrud I'd be tempted to add a purity seal to his chest.
I like to remember things my own way... Not necessarily the way they happened.

Is it? Well I look all manner of foolish now. It occurs to me from looking at that model that a 40k powersword might be a good fit for a shortsword.
