Necris

You could try something like the Damask brothers from the Boom comic exterminatus

they are the 2 in the background

This here is my very favourite gun...I call her rita.

I can't think of many female twins but there are other classical sisters you could name them after, perhaps some of the daughters of Actaeus(Herse, Pandrosus, Agraulos) or perhaps you could name them after the wives of Amphion and Zethus, Thebe and Niobe.

O the joys of a classical education.

Assuming you're referring to my "Phantom of the Opera" comment, that was a reference to the model's current two-faced appearance, not any plan to have her like that in the end. That said, the idea has been squirrelled away for later use.

Also, a minor update.

Firstly, I decided to swap the hilt on the Escher's knife for one of the plastic Space Marine ones.

Not the kind of thing you'd normally even notice, but I've always liked that eagle head pommel.

And the Highborn... In the process of reducing his bandy-leggeded pose, it turns out that his body is really more like 35mm scale than 32mm. His original legs were short for the body, so now I'm redoing them, he's going to end up a little taller than most of the other models. That works for me though, as it will tie in quite well with his draft background and skill-set.

Here's a rough sketch of the plan (yay graphics tablet):

Only rough, with three major caveats.

Firstly, the boot design was a total placeholder (Drawing feet is not a strongpoint, so as this was only a pose sketch, I went with what I found easiest). It'll either be armoured boots or maybe some kind of arctic boot to tie in with the winter theme I had in mind.
Secondly, I'm considering having the left sword held across in front of the body.
Thirdly, he'll be standing on something more interesting. Again, placeholder. But I'm looking for something distinctively sci-fi to help drive home the anachronism (and make him look more like he's in 40k without arbitrarily giving him a bionic eye or something, which I may be doing with the Famulous anyway).

On other notes, he's going to keep the bow. Aside from the fact it'd be a challenge to remove cleanly, it works with his background and I'm not going to have many other chances to have a character use one.

In other news, I also need to decide what I'm doing with the psyker. I think I should perhaps do something Blanchian, as I don't do that enough.

Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."

That pommel remains a great piece.

PErhaps the highborn could stand on something like a small power unit, including some wires etc. That should look scifi I guess.

No modelling worth showing you at this point, but on the note of trying to go Blanchian with the psyker, here's a possible concept.

This would put the remaining parts of the Heresy Tunnel Priest's staff (which the Daemonhost isn't using) to use. Hopefully the GW staff won't notice.

Colour scheme will need to be reds, yellows and blacks to mimic John's sketch style.

I've been struck by a very strong desire to completely change my warband for the IGT. And my alternate suggestion is going to need a lot of servo skulls (at least half a dozen, I'd say).

I may just decide to sculpt one myself and make a mould, but does anyone know a source for decent 1:32, 1:35 or 54mm scale skulls that won't cost through the nose?

Internet searches turn up either models where the sculptor's reference was (apparently) a gorilla/Homo Erectus/Neanderthal (although some of them are possibly fixable) or which are just more expensive than they're worth.

He looks properly Blanchian. I look forwards to seeing a model based on this design.

The kroot IQ model has a human skull on it, if your short of one I do have one you can have

greenstuff_gav

I don't know the first one; base tag says WK 01 .. thought it Black Cat but can't find it  :-[
next is one of Spartan Games' 40mm skellies .. ask your LGS, they maybe able to order 'em .. but £10 for 3 skulls maybe pricey (i'll poke around in the bin tomorrow if i get chance), Covenant for scale, then the Kroots' skull piece (wouldn't have thought of it without Knobbys' suggestion!) :)

so, like Knobby, i has 1x kroot and maybe 3 / 4 40mm skellie ones knocking about if that's of use!
i make no apologies, i warned you my ability to roll ones was infectious...

3 for £10 is on the pricey side. That'd be pushing it as an overall budget for the 6-8 I might need, because past that point it's really more worth my time and money making/moulding them myself. (However, the idea of looking for whole skeletons might work.)

And while I thank the offers, I don't really want to empty everybody's bitz boxes of skulls. They're useful things and my sculpting heavy method means I just don't have many bitz to trade in return.

the other option is I have a friend who does very good green stuff cast's, I can price up a few copies of the kroot skull if you'd like and see what he'd do for ya, probaby inc. postage a total of £%

Nevermore2010

You know Marco I would think a scupltor of your quality could probably make a bit of money sculpting skulls for conclavers to convert into Servo skulls. I know i would pay good money for a decent sprue of Skulls. And its not like there would be any copywrite issues for basic skulls.
Wash: "Psychic, though? That sounds like something out of science fiction."

Well, I've not painted anything in months and I'm far from the best 28mm painter, but here's a minor PIP update:

Mostly done with the skin (it seems I need to be slightly more generous with the watering down though) and I've basecoated the hair. (She and her twin are going to be redheads to help create a family resemblance.)

I probably went a bit over the top with her eyes though, as that reflection in her irises is not the photo lighting.

She is starting to look very good. I really like the skin tone. How are you going to do the red hair? I've been trying a few things but it never worked out the right way.

I'm afraid I can't get a photo that actually shows the colours properly without waiting for daylight, but I tried the following sequence:

- Dark Flesh
- Dark Flesh + Vermin Brown
- Dark Flesh + Vermin Brown + Blazing Orange
- Vermin Brown + Blazing Orange.
- Blazing Orange
- Wash (possibly x2) with Gryphonne Sepia with a dash of Baal Red.

My attempt had a bit too little in the mid-tones, so I need to be a bit less generous about the shading and highlighting next time, but I'm nonetheless happy. While definitely towards the redder end of the scale, it's distinctive and not actually that far off a girl I used to know!

If you wanted a more muted red-brown, omit the pure Blazing Orange.
