First member, George Bennett. The image is very poor and does not reflect the actual appearance of the model very well, but I can take ok pics and I'll change this picture as soon as I can. I'll also add a bio and have a look through Dark Heresy for some good weapon names, and modify his weapons accordingly, but for now they're just the basic ones found in the =][= rules.

As can be clearly seen his speciality is in field medicine, as well as applying his skills to his comrades he would also be very useful in situations where a target has been injured in the process of capture.

The other 2 characters in this little off-shoot of my Inquisitor's retinue will be another Stormtrooper (this one a capture specialist) and an Acolyte with a heavy stubber.

Hopefully I can get trooper #2 built and painted this weekend as it's going to be a quiet one. I'll also get some better pics.

As promised, Arthur Monroe. Again these are placeholder pics, I finished the model last night but as a working stiff I can't take any outdoor photos (my preferred method) until the 23rd when my holidays start. He'll also get a Cyber mastiff sooner or later (next week)

This guy is the hunter. I went a bit overboard with the base. The story isn't credible - by the looks of it he's just battered something severely yet he's adopting the pose of a stalker when the stink of gore is still heavy in the air, instead of a combat pose. I should have just bloodied the weapon and decorated the base in some other way. Still quite happy with the model. I've just noticed the eye lenses aren't painted.

Next up - the leader of the group, an Acolyte. Aiming for completion on/before 27th. I'll put his profile up before that though.

Looks great. I love the weapon, but where is his left hand?

George Bennett (coincidentally my great uncle's name) has to be the least Warhammer 40000 sounding name for a character that this board has ever seen.

75 NV and Nerves of Steel seems like overkill to me. Each to his own though.

Add some 'ios' and some 'ius' and anything sounds 40k!

Great looking model, simple conversion, but effective. I like the use of the IG grenade launcher, its something we're seeing more and more of these days. Its a shame about the photograph, it looks like there is some really good handiwork that's just let down by a slightly off picture. What is that under the base? Some kind of display stand?

As a side note, I'd say keep the stats for the Rules and Discussion forum. That said, I guess there's only so much you can discuss about a guardsman's stats, other than I'd echo Kierkegaard's words about Nerves of Steel - in these hallowed halls Nerves of Steel is generally seen as a skill given to the mentally broken, the clinically insane or those literally incapable of feeling fear - servitors, daemons, space marines etc. Even Ursarkar Creed would dive out the way if he saw someone levelling a lascannon at him!
An Inquisitor walks into a bar - he rolls D100 to see if he hits it.

Thanks for the comments.

If you like the name George Bennett (no relation to Gordon or indeed Kierkegaard) you'll love the name of the next guy, William Tobey  ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lurking_Fear I will save the "ius" names for the more prominent characters.

Perhaps I will drop nerves of steel. The trouble with that is that he will be left with just one skill. I have noticed with many characters that for the most part they all have multiple skills, I imagine this livens up games. I will probably make a skill called "Valiant" or something, reflecting the courageous actions often undertaken by medics in the performance of their duty (so I'm lead to believe from news stories and films) whereby he is subject to the rules for Nerves of Steel whenever he is attempting move to the aid of a wounded companion.

His left hand is attached to the gun by some sort of side-hold contraption, I'll get a few angles in the update when I can get some natural light.

The thing on the bottom is just a scenic pillar that has been attached for ease of painting, that will be removed for the final photos.

It was easy to avoid that temptation on this model as I decided from the start that he would be very streamlined in appearance and character - very much function before form for him and his counterpart trooper.  I was even able to resist adding the grenades/pouches/holsters that I might normally use on a model of this type. All I added was the small Gruss tome to perhaps show that he is something more Gothic than a normal Guardsman. It could probably even be a medical primer or something similar. I imagine the leader of the group (an Acolyte) as being more fancy by far than his underlings though.

MarcoSkoll

As far as those photos, get more light on the model.

Except Georgios sounds Greek (actually, it is...)

In my experience, a good path when naming 40k characters is to avoid any English (sounding) names, unless they're very "posh".
I've got character names that come from all over the world - but the only common "English" name that appears in the collection is Robert, as Marco Skoll's middle name.
S.Sgt Silva Birgen: "Good evening, we're here from the Adeptus Defenestratus."
Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".

Like others have said, a good, simple conversion.  Good to see an auxilliary grenade launcher in action.

Some guardsmen must have ordinary sounding names, I guess.  Makes for a change.

There's nothing wrong with only having one skill - to be honest I tend to forget half the skills above the first few anyway, and if you want to focus on him being a medic, simply the medic skill does that.  Nerves of steel does have him reacting in an essentially inhuman fashion.
I had better point out, that some of the clubs I represent are of a military bent.

You know what you are?  A plywood shark!

Just had a quick look at this pic and I have a sneaky feeling that this model is stunningly painted. Look forwards to some better pics.

Kaled

Not much I can say that other people haven't already - he's a very nice model, good work.

Plenty of my characters only have one skill and some have none.  My first Inquisitor didn't have any skills for ages, but later got Gunfighter when I built the second model of him, because his stats alone were sufficient to describe him.  If you find yourself adding skills for the sake of it, then the character probably doesn't need them.
I like to remember things my own way... Not necessarily the way they happened.

The model looks great. I'm itching to have my 2 cents about the profile too, but this probable isn't the thread to do it in. If you post him in the 'Inquisitor rules discussion' then I'd love to discuss weapons profiles and such (also I coulnd tell you how I think that the Sg is a bit too high and Kaled can disagree with me).

If that is a poor image then that model is amazing, as he looks fantastic already.
*Insert token witticism*

Second character complete, a pic has been added to the first post
