Okay, this is the biggest Inquisitor conversion I've done yet, my other two models only being very minor conversions. The arms are from the new plastic Ork Killa Kans, as is the energy pack (although I cut it in half to make it a more appropriate size), the wires added are guitar strings, the legs and body are those of Sgt Stone (I cut off all the pouches and little knives etc...) and the head is from Damian Bloodhound.

As usual criticisms and comments would be greatly appreciated - i'd like to know what i've done right or wrong for future conversions.

It's good, but the arms look a little big . . .
And I saw her body burning,
With it, my world
To dust returning

Brother_Brimstone

Yeah, I agree, they were bigger than I'd expected, but seeing as they're essentially large pieces of industrial machinery that have been grafted into the guy's shoulders, I don't think its unjustifiable.

Thanks for the comment.

I have to echo the comment. Not just from a "those look like he'd topple over forwards" perspective, but also a "those look too big to fit neatly on the table" one.

I would definitely look and see if there's any sections which can be removed or shortened.
Cutting down the ball joints at his shoulders, shortening hydraulic rams and arm sections... that kind of thing.
I know some of the things I'd do - with your permission, I can do a quick photoshop bodge to show how I'd cut them down.
S.Sgt Silva Birgen: "Good evening, we're here from the Adeptus Defenestratus."
Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".

Yeah, that would be great, you have my permission and thanks for the help.

IMO, lose the ball joint and cut the arms off at the first joint.  At that joint add one of the chain blades which make of the pincer on the left arm.  The arms will still be big, but they'll be heroic big, not "I must have a hyperdense metal skeleton in order to allow my body to support the amount of metal coming out of my shoulders" big.  Make an entire praetorian with the left over arm bits.

That said, love how the backpack fits and good use of guitar wire.

Thank you for your advice. I realise i'm not great at the converting process but I am trying, and I hope to improve. I feel like i'm really still 'finding my feet' in the world of 54mm conversions. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Apart from the arms, the rest looks really good, stones legs work well shaved down.

I echo what others have said about the arms. Maybe a frame work at the back to help support them? Or Maybe just one arm?

Actually, that sounds pretty good. Better than what I was fiddling around with.

It might take a little clever cutting and pinning, but if you can do that, that would fix the problem quite nicely. You'd lose some of the heavy hydraulic cylinders, but you could say the arms were servo driven instead.

Right-o, before i try, may I ask for a bit of clarification, as i'm not sure I undertsand what you are saying? Which part do you refer to when you say 'first joint', and I don't really get the stuff about the chain blades.

Thanks for the comments.

Myriad

I agree that the arms do need shortening, but the model does work in a scary monstrosity kind of way.  The pose and the head combine quite well.
I had better point out, that some of the clubs I represent are of a military bent.

You know what you are?  A plywood shark!

You have a clear vision and all the right parts, that's most of the battle right there!

QuoteWhich part do you refer to when you say 'first joint', and I don't really get the stuff about the chain blades.

Going to try and find the right words here. What I'm picturing is an arm made up of two sections.  The first section comprises the shoulder/bicep area.  The second is the forearm/hand area.

For the first section I think you should use the length or dredd arm that is between the ball joint and the first joint in the arm.  For the second part (forearm/hand) I think it should just be a chainblade.  To get this chainblade I think you should use one of the pincer sections on the weapon on Severin's left arm.  I think you should just take the hand apart and use each pincer as a single chainblade.

I'm hoping that makes sense, if anyone understands this and wants to illustrate it via MSpaint, feel free to do so.

I'm very grateful for your guidelines as to how to rebuild the arms - in the end, what I did was use some parts for legs and ork shootaz to make the arms, and I cut down the circular saw (which i wanted to keep - i like the idea of the circular saw). Rather than making the other arm into a chainblade, I decided to add the third CCW from the Killa Kans - the drill. It's much smaller than the other CCWs and i think it's in a decent proportion. These pictures are NOT the finished model by any means, I'm simply posting them to show you the new arms, so that you may tell me whether you think they are an improvement.

Thanks for the ongoing support.

Swarbie

I would say it is definitely an improvement. Killy-looking, but not so big that he falls over when he tries to move.

Looks awesome and very killy.  I'm a huge fan of circular saw blades so that model is definitely doing it for me now.  The one suggestion I'd give at this point is raise the shoulders and lower the elbows (meaning pin the arms higher on the torso and lower the elbows so they aren't cocked out).  Then you should be in business.
