Unifius

Greetings everyone!

I have just made an acount on The Conclave; I've downloaded several things from MarcoSkoll, and I have viewed a lot of quite awesome miniature conversions, so I thought I'd make an account to join in.

I have played a few games of Inquisitor, almost exclusively with friends (the other times, I was on my own and doing all the sound effects - I know, I know). We don't use the "Conclave standard character", rather the rulebook's profiles, simply as that's what we grew up on (without making myself seem too old). I have finished my first Warband; A Xanxthite Inquisitor (using a slightly converted Navigator model), a Magos, a converted Eversor Assassin and a Daemon host. I feel I should mention at this point that I have never used them all at the same time; that would be overkill!
Of all of them, my favourite has to be Legion, my daemonhost; worried of my previous painting skills, I asked a friend to paint him for me, and together we came up with rules, reflecting his nature of being several personalities in one. His rules are slightly complicated though, so I haven't had a chance to unleash him yet.

I am currently starting a new warband once I get the money together (saving up for the Collector's Edition Warhammer rulbook). So far, it will probably be a Recongregator/Istvaanite two man warband; an Inquisitor based of Van Helsing (Bounty hunter crossed with Eisenhorn) and a Bomber Jacket wearing anarchist (Major Jackson with some converting). Where my Navigator-Inquisitor is pretty darn overt, my new warband will be more subtle. Of course, that's in the future.

Currently, my friends and I are engaged in our first campaign. It revolves around several pieces of tech that once put together forms a death-ray. I have won one game (in which my Magos threw a Rending Rover) and, predictably, lost another.

Well, that's all I can think of right now; if anyone has any sugestions or advice for my new warband, please tell me!

Welcome to the Conclave!

Now that I've got the traditional welcome out of the way - I think I can speak for pretty much everyone in saying we'd love to see some pics of your models, and maybe some battle reports (again, pictures would be great).

Hope you enjoy your time here.

It may take awhile; I don't have a camera, but I'll see what I can do.

Luckily, one of my friends took down notes for the games; I'll get in touch with him and hopefully write them up.

What about a camera phone or a scanner?  Neither is as good as a proper camera, but both can be used to take passable photos of models - and you certainly don't need a high-end camera or any special equipment.

Anyway, I hope you manage to find/borrow something - it's always great to see people's models.

BTW - I meant to ask before, how about posting the rules you've created for the daemonhost, if you're worried they might be too complicated then I'm sure some of the veterans would be willing to help.

Personally, I'm always interested in those who go for "rulebook profile" characters, as I feel a lot of those manage to capture the insanity of Blanche-style quite well. So I look forward to seeing your stuff!

I don't have a camera phone, mine's just used for phoning. My friends do, so again, I'll see what I can do.

Legion

To determine Legion's profile, roll a D6 at the start of each game turn. Injury effects apply only to the personality which suffered them.

1)  WS  BS  S    T     I  Wp  Sg  Nv  Ld     Fearsome, Daemonic: Possession + Shadow
      50  55  50  50  50 40   80 35   20

2) WS  BS  S    T     I    Wp  Sg  Nv  Ld     Fearsome, Daemonic: Possession + Cloak of Darkness; Acrobatic, Dodge
    100  60  50  50 100 90  90   90  40                                                              First Strike, Lightning Reflexes

3) WS  BS  S      T     I    Wp  Sg  Nv  Ld    Terrifying, Daemonic: Possession + Impervious + Invulnerable
     40  30  200 150  40  80   20  90  20

4) WS  BS  S    T     I   Wp  Sg  Nv  Ld     Fearsome, Daemonic: Possession. Wyrd on all powers with a difficulty
     40  80  40  30  50 150  80 90  30                                                             less than or equal to 10.

5) Legion is the same personality as last turn.

6) 10 For all stats; roll on the Hallucinogenic table.

As the seperate personalities have different injury totals, etc. they each need to be killed before Legion falls. Once a personality has been killed, re-roll if it is chosen at the start of the turn.

He is quite a monster, but we had intended for him to be the end-of-level boss, after a campaign revolving around a choas cult (naturally) when the players would have to join forces to take him down.

I believe it's worth saying that Legion has never ever been used ever (yet; knowing Unifius, this is unlikely to last now that I've mentioned his lack of use) :P
Also, is it me or have some of his stats actually dropped? And also, why no Daemonic properties for his attacks a la Cherubael?

Shannow

I really like the concept! Very cool end of campaign boss and depending on the GM seems entirely workable though I would not like to novice GM him!

The only niggling point I have is with personality 4. He has a Wp of 150, but you say he tests as a Wyrd for anything with a less than 10 difficulty. Seeing as wyrds test on Wp of 100 this seems fairly pointless and more that its just a way of avoiding risky actin/psychic overloads, though with a Wp of 150 he's unlikely to suffer the latter and Removing risky action from that many powers seem OTT and a bit difficult to track perhaps? I'd take that bit off.

Having said that I think the rest is very cool, and when you do use him a battle report would be excellent :)

PS: sorry if I seemed attacking! Not my intention :)
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Well, he's only half-GM'd, as no-one but Unifius is allowed to touch him without express permission. But I do look forward to GMing him at some point (as an aside to Unifius, am I fine to GM next game? Because let's face it, no-one else will).
[EDIT]
@Shannow: I think it's in case of psychic overloads on the higher-difficulty non-Wyrd powers.

Unifius

Yes, Personality 4's Wp of 150 is for psyker powers of difficulty 11 or more, and he doesn't have daemonic properties for his stats as let's face it, he doesn't really need them. That said, I could tweak him a bit.

Shannow

My point was that if he has Wp 150 he is extremely unlikey to get psychic overload on most powers of any difficulty, unless its a ranged power and your shooting very far away, and certainly he will almost certainly pass any difficulty 10 powers so the Wyrd for those seems very excessive as your more likely to pass the test with the Wp 150 but there is a tiny chance of it going wrong which seems better from a mechanic point of view.

I know he is meant to be a boss and I'm not advocating making him 'weak', I just think the Wyrd is pretty pointless.

Sorry if that seems attacking, he is a great character idea and I'd love to see the model and him being actually used :)

Yes, I see what you mean; I'll see if I can get in some practise games and try him out and see which works best.
I didn't think you were attacking, it's great to get some outside and unbiased opinions; lets me know how well I'm doing!
