hello one and all

ok so although im running a two player campaign for myself and my dad, due to work commitments we arent playing as often as id like to. So in this vain i was wondering if anyone had run games or campaigns for themselves to play alone (now i no this sounds sad but bear with me please, new country, no players that arent power gamers and not much time)? I like the idea of a Captain of a ship being hired by the highest paying bidder to do missions etc and collect artifacts or other shizzle (i know too much mass effect 2 probably lol) but im not too sure how to go about this

I think this is an interesting idea.

Here is the deal, I think it would have to be pre-written for you.  I.e. a bunch of people on the Conclave get together and write up a bunch of scenarios.  These would kind of look/feel like a choose your own adventure book, but of scenarios.

The main problem would be who would allocate various decisions in the game, that a GM would normally do.  The scenarios could cover the most obvious, but players are creative and would go outside of the bounds.

Perhaps a mechanism could be created where the lone player rolls a a d10:

1-2 Most favorable decision for player
3-5 Favorable for player
6-8 Not favorable for player
9-10 Least favorable for player

Then the dice roll would tell the player how to interpret the rules?

I'm trying to think up an example, but failing.

hmmm like the adventure book idea....always enjoyed them before such things as the playstation lol
but i doubt i could get enough people on here to help out.....noone would see it as a productive use of their own time

That attitude certainly won't endear anyone to help you frankly, but I think if you define the length of campaign your after AND wrote up the scenarios as they occurred with pretty picture for Dark Magenta I think many would be willing to help, with people each writing a scenario. I for one would find it interesting to help.

I think if you come up with a detailed basic concept as a starting point. coupled with the characters you would use, then someone can write the first scenario, then once that has been reported someone else could write the second, that way you would always be kept guessing what was coming.

You might also find time to create random generator tables for what ammo your characters recouped or even if they picked up new weapons.

Be more optimistic! You realistically only need the help of 6 for a good campaign and you have at least 2 interested parties here :)

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Time to die.

I'd be willing to chip in as well. A library comprised of single scenarios would be a generally useful resource for anyone looking to slot something into thier campaign or just for inspiration.

Im sure Ive seen someones attempt at this somewhere (on here?) but I cant find it atm...

I've got a couple of good scenarios that I always just knock about and rehash for when I'm playing with new people - I think a collection of good, well written scenarios is a very good cause to work towards, it would help out all sorts of people, new and veteran alike.
An Inquisitor walks into a bar - he rolls D100 to see if he hits it.

@ Shannow
sorry didnt mean to sound condesending at all, was a long day yesterday worked 5 til 6 non-stop to get a customers car done in time for todays show.

ok so BOT, ive been thinking along the lines of using a Mercenary/Rogue Trader without the trade license sort of leader, with just one companion, but you can have to option of searching for others if you so wish it.

Basically just them doing jobs etc for Paying Customers, things like mundane find this character and give him this to fun times like secure a crashed spaceship and defend the cargoe from all attackers.

If people are up for it then yeah ill do it, but ill need your help of course ;-)

I've tried a few games of Inquisitor playing solo (even posted a BR here). The best way to play is work out each characters plan of attack, then play that plan out, with lots of random tables thrown in.

Man, I love random tables!
Beep if you love muties!
