Let's just hope whoever paid for it had the same idea! Paying £25 is a bit steep for a gun to then just go and glue it to a model.

I lost an ebay auction for the bottom middle lasgun from that set the other day, thing sold for £25 or so. Shame as I was planning to send it on to one of the members of our community establish in the art of resin casting.

I'm in the process of doing the EXACT SAME THING for the one just above it!

Looks like someone has the whole pack and is selling it off piecemeal

(and yes, I meant for sale)

Guys, I was watching that last unreleased lasgun and thinking of sending it on to the Conclave too, but decided it went too high for me. Could it be worth setting up a Conclave funding pool and having just one of us bid? That way we wouldn't compete against each other, have more chance of making it available to the community at large, and can afford to pay a larger amount for it. I mean, if even ten of us donate £3 per weapon, that could easily be a winning bid.

Then maybe everyone who donates a certain amount gets one free cast or something? I'm not too bothered about the one we missed, personally, but I'd dearly love to get my hands on the bottom left lasgun and top left laspistol, as well as the accessory sprues. I've got a heavy bolter that could use a tripod too.

Charax

That'd just get messy, I think. Also slightly off-topic for this thread.

No..... sorry, but I am the winner of the two first auctions, and certainly of the third currently on ebay - but I will keep them for my own collection :) .
Those are unreleased items, and If I recast them.... well, I have no interest to do that. I am an collector, those are unreleased items, and they will look coll in my collection. NO... RECAST ...

"Certainly"? Oh I'm going to make you eat those words.

Or at the very least, pay through the goddamn nose for them.

Well, you can replace that by "hopefully". My english isn't perfect, I am from France, and english isn't my first language .... altough I have understand what you have say - May I can ask you to be polite ? It's always nice on a forum.

Scaring people again Charax?

I believe he wasn't being rude Oliveraso, just the different humour that we enjoy on this forum :)

Shame not casting though

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Time to die.

To be fair to Charax, you did come to the last real forum for keeping Inquisitor going (where everyone was getting excited about models everyone has wanted to see available for years) and say that, not only are you going to keep the first two in a display cabinet to look at and don't want to recast them because you want the only copies, but that you are actively going to try to prevent this community of people having access to the rest of the weapons we've wanted for so long...

I understand collecting unreleased models from most games but, in something like Inquisitor where the whole thing is based on conversions, every piece counts.

Charax - this was the one I most wanted to see available. If you want a little bit of extra funds to bid with, let me know.  ;)

No.
Because recasting is illegal.

Ah, and I have won the third weapon. Charax, shoot yourself in the foot there mate. Useless to say I will not help you now.

Charax

oh I don't mind, I just made you pay £82 for a single resin lasgun.  ::)

As for recasting, it doesn't really matter, Dionzi and I go back a ways (not always on the best of terms) and I know whatever he produces will be of equal or greater quality.

Plus, it's money I can pour into getting the rest of the lasgun pack when it shows up  ;D

Ynek

£82 for a single piece of resin is, for want of a better word, wasted money.

Although in fairness, even if I had won the auctions, I would probably be a little hesitant about casting them, since this is the only set of the Inq-lasgun conversion pack in existence, and it's being bought on ebay... There's a paper trail that leads right to me, which is a little different than re-casting Space Marine helmets (there were hundreds of those made...) or other out of production pieces. If the GW legal attack-dogs saw more than one miniature with these pieces on them, and had two brain cells to rub together, they would have been able to know instantly that the pieces which had been bought on ebay had been cast and sold, giving them a pretty solid case against me in any court of law.

But, let's face it - lasguns are NOT difficult to make from scratch. In fact, they're one of the easier 40kverse weapons to create. With a little skill, and the right materials, you can make a convincing lasgun in about a couple of hours. Although, the PROBLEMS I've had trying to cast an "alien disintegration ray" which is CERTAINLY NOT a gauss flayer, for my "own personal use", would lead me to believe that making a set of lasguns might be more trouble than reward... But then again, what's life without challenge?

Hmmm... Where's my plasticard?
"Somehow, Inquisitor, when you say 'with all due respect,' I don't think that you mean any respect at all."

"I disagree, governor. I think I am giving you all of the respect that you are due..."

Dolnikan

That seems like a lot of money for a single piece to me, but of course that does depend on the financial state of the buyer. To be honest I don't think that such pieces are a nice part of a collection. Only to a very specialized audience do such pieces have any valueor specialness, to most people it would just be another lump of plastic. Even to many very serious gamers a piece like that is just that, a single weapon without anything special about it.
Circles of the wise My attempt at writing something, please comment on it if you have any advise.

Charax

the thing about potential copyright infringement is a lot of it depends on proving harm to the company - GW never released the kit, and they've pretty much abandoned Inquisitor, they almost certainly never had plans to release the kit in the future, so proving harm will be next to impossible. It's also hard to prove at what point the recasting occurred - who along the chain of ownership turned one lasgun into several hundred? without proving that, you can't bring a case against the correct person.

Yes, lasguns are easy to produce compared to other weapons, but these are iconic pieces of Inquisitor history, and that specific one was my favourite from the set.

and while lasguns might be easy to make, not many people actually have done so, and none of those have made them generally available - and weapons are easily the most iconic part of the 40K universe, stick a lasgun on anything and it becomes 40K, so weapons are in high demand.

anyway, I know the contents of the pack by heart, by my reckoning we have two pistols and two heavy weapons (multilaser and man-portable lascannon) to go. I'll be making a play for some or all of them, even if just to make Oliveraso pay through the nose for
