So, the person who asked me to make a terminator for them, in the Horus Heresy style armour, has finaly given me the background information that I needed to progress with the sculpt. They are looking for a Nurgle Plague Marine. He did say, that he did not what in to be heavily under the effects of Nurgle, but to be undergoing the transformation.  He went into a few other details, equipment and such, but said i was free to do as I see fit for the figure as a whole.

So, when I got that info from the would be owner, I went to town working on it this morning, as I hade 85% of the generic green done while i was waiting for him to get back to me about the details.

So far, I am fairly happy with the progression i've had so far on it, and I Should hopefully have the sculpting finished within a week. I'm not sure if I will be painting this figure as well, I need to wait till I show my patron the finished piece, before they decide if they want it painted as well.

sorry for the quality of the pics, for some reason i just couldnt get the macro function to work on my camera :S

As you can see, he is a monster in size. The hieght comparison, is against a simple eisenhorn conversion. There is alot of work to gon him him still, as well as alot of tidying up on him I'm not happy with the fungal growth i've done on his back, so I am going to be redoing that. it just doesnt look right to me.

I can see... but I'm going to have to offer constructive criticism on that one.

That scale shot puts him at around ~11 feet tall head to toe. While that size would be appropriate perhaps for an Obliterator, Space Marines are (only) 7.5 to 8 feet in height.

Yes, Terminator armour will add overall model height from the armour up and around the head, but not to much more than 9 feet total, and the Marine in the armour still needs to be of the order of 7 to 7.5 centimetres head to foot (if stood straight)
Nurgle Marines of course are bloated and go out more, but not really up.

Other than that, it's a good start, but he's really missing bulk on the upper legs.
S.Sgt Silva Birgen: "Good evening, we're here from the Adeptus Defenestratus."
Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".

whilst I agree with marco about the sheer bulk of this guy I'd like to draw attention to previous examples of terminators by Argentuss. IIRC his word bearer had a lot of armour rising above the actual height of the character, the head was set fairly low down. at about 7 or 8 feet.

I'm going to reserve judgement on the size but would suggest checking proportions before going too much further. looks like a mammoth project either way so good luck.

With regards to the height of the Terminator, the collar of the armor extends to half way up the face of the helmet, so its not as tall as you would expect.

The whole piece is based on a drawing showing the heights of sisters of battle, power armor, and terminator armor. This had a 10' scale of a terminator, and from this i scaled it down to the right sized. A 10' terminator, should scale down to around 9.7cm or 3.9". Rounding this off to an even 10cm, or 4".  Now this is the full height of the armor, and not the size of the marine inside. The marine itself clocks in around 8cm, or scaled back up to realisticly, around 8'. And if my maths is correct, 9' tall, should work out at around 8.8cms in 1/31 scale.

I know over the years there has been various different descriptions of the hiehgt of the marines, mainly due to the creative writing of black library and other authors. And I do realise, a typical marine is in the region of 7.5' ~ 8' tall.  This one in particular is not meant to 100% accurate in height, but is from my measurements, all but 100% accurate in hieght to the scale it should be.

With regards to the legs, ya, the thighs do need work still. i'm still working on getting the waist/groin finished before I thicken out the thighs to the right size, so i can work around the that area a little easier.
