B -movie moment

Along with a rhombic triacontahedron, I got myself some eolith models for christmas, and today I made a start on painting them with the frankenstein model, which in a nod to the genre I decided to paint in black and white, which I think came out quite well.  My apologies for the picture quality - the light was fading.

Interesting - I don't think I'd ever considered painting a model in greyscale before, kudos! I will say however that the photo does let it down, so I can't comment on the quality of the painting from the chest upwards, but the arms and legs look good! I'm a little disappointed you didn't convert him at all - what are you going to use him for?

I rather like the idea of painting a model in black and white - I guess it makes him less useful for Inquisitor, but it's a great idea for a display piece.

Rob - I've decided not to convert my eolith band for the moment, although this will leave me with a very un 40K look.  I was going to use him more or less as frankensteins monster - I was thinking of a band leader with warp strength and plenty of minions to use it on.  The model itself is very forgiving of the treatment, I think just enough to use it in a game.

Interesting experiment, and quite well done too. The only thing that I would change is the boot (I think that it looks too similar to the skin tone - black might look better.

I saw this in person last night.

Knowing Myriad's usual approach to painting (basecoat... drybrush... wash... done!), I was really impressed with what he can actually do when he puts his mind to proper highlighting and shading.  The photos don't do the mini justice.

Frankenstein's monster's boss (I'd better start naming them I think) is painted.




Although painting the entire warband in black and white seemed to be stretching the point, I've tried to keep the noirish feel.  The colour scheme I think works, but the detail work isn't as good as I'd like so I might well go back to it at some point, probably when there's more daylight.

How about adding a white streak into her hair to bring to mind the Bride of Frankenstein?  Might be a good way to tie them together being as one in in colour and the other is black & white.

Yay.  Finished the band.  Except for the basing, which I'm just going to pretend is done for now.

The final member, Eolith's lady grigorian.  I was worried about the stake for a while, but Robey tells me blessed stakes exist.

Nice, but I think the 35mm model is going to look rather out of place alongside the 50-60mm models you normally get on the Inquisitor table.

She'll be a scale size of perhaps 3' 6" or 3' 7"... which is about what you might expect of a 4 year old girl. Not that people can't be that small in their adulthood, but it's very rare.
As it is, she's dwarfed by Lady Grigoryan, who's already one of the smaller models for the scale...

Lovely work. I agree that Layla looks a little out of place due to the scale but they all look great painted up. Echo on the compliments for Lady Grigoryan's paintjob. Looks awesome, I love the colour scheme.
