I was recently given all of the old wargaming resources from my school club when one of my teachers was clearing out a cupboard and this included an old dark eldar Haemonculus. i don't play dark eldar so i was wondering how i colud use it in the truest sense as a very small person in inquisitor http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440231a&prodId=prod1050203

Flinty

28mm figures such as this, with slightly 'odd' or distorted proportions compared to 'normal' humans (if you get my drift) can make good vat grown constructs or knock-off Cherub type characters.

This looks as though a little tweaking could produce something a suitably twisted PC might have knocking about in thier entourage, no problems. I can see a use for this one already...

Hamish the haemunculus psyker
Being an Xi level psyker, he has evaded the black ships for many years (with his small size helping as well), both by his powers not being that effective, in conjunction with calling them flukes. Recently though, the Sisters of Silence have become more diligent with the low level psykers, he has been on the run more and more. Until now, he has only been tested loosely, but now, just by dint of were he is (i.e. Velterax III) he is caught, a psyker, a weak one but a psyker nonetheless in the middle of the secret war of Octavian Lars and Volta Electron

I plan to use him as an NPC to start with, but with him becoming the objective of a battle, with the victor taking him in of purging him of taint. Rules coming when i find the ones i wrote in english this morning

What makes you think the Sisters of Silence have anything to do with running the Blackships in the 41st millenium? Unless there's been something recently that I don't know of, there's no mention of them after the Heresy and there have been quite a few descriptions of the Blackships written since the SoS were introduced but none of them mention the Sisters - all the descriptions I can think of talk about Inquisitorial and Adeptus Astra Telepathica personnel plus Inquisitorial Stormtroopers and/or Sororitas as guards.
I like to remember things my own way... Not necessarily the way they happened.

I registered a few months ago but for some reason I can't use my old account anymore so I made a new one, this is my first post with this new account.

I always thought Dark Eldar only ever used psykers as playthings, and they never let them have lives of their own, no exceptions, they spend all of their short lives being tortured and experimented on. I have not read any Dark Eldar fluff for a few years though so it may have changed with the release of the new codex.

That would be a homunculus then.

Personally I think his toughness is rather high for his size, so that will need justifying. The model strikes me much more as a imp-like daemon rather than an abhuman though. You could play up on the puppet-master/mind control aspect of the idea perhaps, maye having him as the kind of thing which toys with people and makes them dance to his tune for his own amusement?

ok will lower toughness and change spelling, as i want him to be an objective, and if captured joins the warband that got him first

I'm almost definitely sure the spelling is haemonculus. I presume 'haem' is used in reference to blood.

A homonculus is a model based representation of how much cortex of the brain is given over to representing the senses from any given area of the body (sorry to be pedantic, I'm a neuroscientist)
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

The neuroscience meaning is from an earlier meaning of miniature person - either an imp like being created by a magician, usually through the combination of bodily fluids in a vial, or the hypothetical tiny human that exists with a sperm or egg (usually sperm, as the time this was thought of was not a time of feminism and some of these people probably thought women didn't really think) - which caused an interesting heresy, actually, about figuring out when the world was to end.

It also has a meaning in philosophy, but that's way to off topic.
Questions are a burden to others, answers a burden to oneself.

Well this has been an educational evening! Anyone care to hear about cortico-cerebellar connections?  ;)

Actually yes, as I'm a cognitive scientist-cum-philosopher-cum-Artificial Intelligence Ethicist!

But yes this is way off topic (but that's what PMs are for!). As Dapper pointed out homonculus means miniature-person. From a philosophical perspective (and this may actually be of relevance and interest to Octavian) the title homonculus argument is used against any theory which falls back on an 'I' within ones own head. What do 'I' see through my eyes etc. Which leads to an infinite regression (because obviously the homonculus only understands the visual data because there is a homonculus inside his head which makes sense of the data the homonculus receives etc.)

Hence my suggestion about the mind-control puppetry etc.

I have many biscuits and tea for us to discuss over  :P

Back to thread point..... Very much like the mind control puppetry. I recall a character/model in one of DM battle reports, where he has a mini skeleton familiar suspended below his outstretched hand, very cool.

Though actual attached puppet string would also be extra creepy, but would mean he couldn't really wander anywhere...

Look forward to seeing end results anyway Octavian!
