Well, without going too much into his background. He failed to kill a Chaos Sorcerer who, in turn killed his Captain (whom he was sworn to protect). So, considering he had a strong dislike of Psykers this didn't do much to improve his opinion. When he tracked down the Chaos Sorcerer his Company Librarian ordered him to withdraw his forces and let the sorcerer escape (the Librarian saved Banus from a trap). Banus confronted the Librarian and lost in a duel of honour. This sent Banus over the edge and he started ranting about the edicts of Nikea and blah blah blah he gets some traction in the Imperial Fists/Black Templars hybrid chapter and gets 'seconded' to the Inquisition before things get out of hand in the chapter.

So..... He has been operating on his own for some time. I haven't quite got his Background on paper yet and I'm unsure if this 'leading the resistance' stuff is before or after his secondment to the Inquisition. It makes more sense for him to be on his own with the Inquisition in all fairness.

He has however had his ever loyal Chapter serf tattooed the entire canticles of hatred onto his body in order to prevent attacks from psykers and has even been gifted with a funky bolt pistol with a shot selector with 2 modified psycannon shells. However... that ever loyal Chapter serf? Well......... Maybe his research into protecting his master from psychic attack has taken some dark turns.......... So there might be some craziness going on there as well. We'll see.

That sounds like terrific fun. Only wish I might get to see some of these characters in action some day, but alas, my transport options are limited, and my painting speed is glacial at best.

Gorgeous work. I do think that kneepad is crying out for something despite the great work with the blending. Maybe a campaign badge? Lightning bolt or axe head?

Thanks for the link mate. I'll have to ponder that one. I kinda like the Gated 'face' that was on the Imperial Knight Gerantis. So that may appear.

Ok chaps, no pics so far. I'm just brain storming. If you were a black legionary on some nefarious mission. What weapons would you have? I kinda like the idea of two swords. But maybe two pistols (although I was saving the Gunfighter for an Aplha Legionary). Or maybe just a Bolter, Pistol and Chainsword?

I don't want something that will take ages to build (like a power maul). So, Ideas?

A chain weapon of some sort.  Perhaps one of these from Black Crusade:

Xerxes Arm-Mounted Chainblade - This ancient weapon design uses a Chainblade affixed to an integrated forearm covering an armoured gauntlet and power supply. Heavy and solid, it can tear open bunker doors or armoured chestplates while keeping the hand free to use a ranged weapon. This bulkier assembly bears resemblance to a crude Chainfist, scrapped together by Heretek denizens within the Screaming Vortex (one of two massive Warp Storms which separate the Calixis Sector of the Imperium from the Koronus Expanse). This is a one-handed melee weapon. Note: this weapon can be used while gripping another weapon in the same hand, however the wielder must choose the weapon with which he is attacking on a given turn.

Have that under a forearm while holding a bolter would be quite a surprise for anyone getting too close!

I went with some good old fashioned chain weapons. They're brutal, brutal looking and two of them together look awesome He's not finished yet, I need to add some more gubbinz, make a hilt for one of the chainswords, maybe add some knives and whatever you guys think of.. Anyway......... pics!!

Well. He is Done. This is Arkus of the Black Legion. He is basically speed painted (for me anyway) as he was done in about 7 hours.






Here he is facing off against Banus (Poor Banus is seriously out classed). Banus has had his head repositioned and a Combat blade added.

lol I love that he has 2 chainswords, combat knives and a bladed helmet, want to read some fluff on this guy. Preferably with a paragraph/page on him bashing people with his helmet once he loses the rest of his weapons because they are stuck in his victims
