Long rifle modelling

Hey hey.

I have a couple of questions on the models Im working out for my new warband. Firstly, apart from the big one on her chest, are there any particularly prominent =][= signs on her that will be difficult to file down.

For her chest I plan on GSing a bigger chest plate rather than having those silly madonna tits on her so Im not too worried about the chest one.

My main question is this; I want to give her a nice long flintlock or maybe bolt action rifle, I was thinking something like this flintlock or this bolt action

I planned on filing down her force halberd and using that as a basis for the barrel and GS/card the rest of the gun on.

I was wondering if anyone had done anything similar and had any advice on how to go about the whole process. I have a vague idea what Im going to do but anyone with experience with a similar project would be very useful.

I take it we're talking about the daemon huntress model, but you haven't actually said so.

From what I recall of my own conversions, no, you're not beset by a horde of hard to remove Inq symbols.

... As far as the breasts, it's reasonably easy to make them rather less "Madonna". Take Kaled's Lillith Polanski model for an example - I did the same thing when I converted the model, not being a fan of the odd analogues it drew.
If you do want to change it outright, fine, but I'd advise against making the chest plate larger - it's all too easy to make female models look ridiculously top heavy that way.

Next, for the rifle, I advise simply drilling the halberd out and starting over with brass rod or tube - it'll be a nightmare to file the halberd down smoothly, so you'd save yourself one hell of a lot of swearing by just using brass tube.

in terms of inquisitor symbols marco is right. there aren't too many. I, too, would be disinclined to make the chest plate any larger.

The easiest way to make a rifle is to use plasticard / styrene sheet and some sort of thin plastic tube. For years, I used the inner tubes from the middle of cotton buds / Q-tips.

Plasticard/styrene sheet is relatively inexpensive and can be widely bought on eBay. I recommend using 1mm plasticard for guns, and making the gun from three layers of plastic.

Also I dont think I was very clear, I didnt mean bigger in the katie price sense of the word... I meant making one solid flat breastplate. I seem to remember from the old clave PO made a female inquisitor with a chestplate made from a 40k space marines chest. I meant something to look like that.

Adam, I like the idea of paying a small amount of money and getting a professionally sculpted rifle rather than spending a lot of time and getting a naff rifle any idea about the size of the thing? Ideally I want it to be just a bit bigger than would be sensible. 

Ynek, those guns are pretty awesome, Ive needed an excuse for a character with a bullpup gun for ages but I always see them as a proper military thing and none of my characters are really 'army' enough. Its gonna happen though, maybe as a late addition to this warband.

But still, I'd build in place of the current breasts - not over them, because that would be a path to "top heavy".

I bought some 54mm weapons by Andrea a while ago and they were far smaller than the weapons from the GW range - they might have worked on 28mm models , but even then they probably still wouldn't have looked right.

You're better off following Ynek's advice and making your own...

I was afraid of that. Damned GW models 'heroic' scale haha. Actually I like it like that (more heroic), damn real life human non-heroic proportions hah.

wow the marine torso is a really good fit for scale. While I dont think Im going to use it, I dont plan on having the lady too armoured up, I can see that being a good thing to compare to... I always end up regretting the proportions of my sculpting
