Ugh. Many of my regulars have the same problem as I do. They're also going to be helping with the same concert, and they're not as able or willing to try and squeeze in a trip to Nottingham in the middle of it all.

I have one or two people I might have a slim chance of convincing, but unless you lot are having more luck than I am, then I'm no longer holding much hope of this going ahead.

Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".

If we can't round up enough people to make it worthwhile for Van Helser to book flights etc, I have a few ideas for a fairly loose campaign that we could run instead, one that wouldn't need a whole load of people.

I was looking forwards to a few games so if this falls through, then we can maybe discuss a plan B?

I can bring a whole bunch of people, anywhere up to 5, inclusively. Not sure if that's enough to sway the balance though...

Most definitely. It'd be a shame not to have Ruaridh, but I was really hoping to have an event before the Autumn Conclave.

Not only do I fancy playing rather than just running games, but October is ages away.

If we managed to organise something in the NW for a similar date I could  put a couple of people up who have to travel (though they would be sharing a double bed :P)

Still an offer anyway!
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Time to die.

and i'll be leaving from radstock so do bath /bristol pickups :)
i make no apologies, i warned you my ability to roll ones was infectious...

It will be good to have an event either way.

Well, it would seem we are more or less there for participants. Plus I kind of really want run this thing after having it on the shelf so long (as it were). So we are go!

Now just need to confirm the six tables promised are definitely available.

Yay! That's good to hear as I'm starting to have withdrawal symptoms - last night I had a dream about playing Inquisitor against someone with the most overpowered characters I've ever seen...

As overpowered as those ones that used to make Charax see red on the previous Conclave (or perhaps even the one before that)... Where the character would have 20 guns, and enough bionic limbs to use them all, and abilities that basically meant "I win, goodbye"?
Questions are a burden to others, answers a burden to oneself.

Doesn't take a lot ;)

The problem with INQ is that the types of characters you described are easy to spot, easy to fix, and easily removed from a game with little hassle, as the characters often have little basis in the 41st milennium, with no backstory or justification, which are the main weapons as a GM for removing OP characters. It's the ones that slip through the net, being slightly above average at everything, or having a model that belies the character's effectiveness, that cause most grief, from my part especially. There was at least one character at various Conclave meetups that caused my eyebrows to get dangerously close to my hairline.

Still, we do what we do best - keep calm and carry on. Plus, it makes it extra satisfying when you do finally get them ;)

The main character I remember from my dream was a gunfighter with BS=96, which would have been bad enough but then it turned out his model's unconverted stubber wasn't just a stubber - it rivaled a bolt pistol in power. And it continued from there - that's not flak armour he's wearing, it's super-tough super-light carapace armour, and anyway his toughness is 88. Oh look, he just so happens to have a special ability that covers just this situation...

I was just getting more and more frustrated as the GM was of the opinion that the other guy's characters were fine. I finally woke up when the GM told my opponent not to bother rolling the dice as he wasn't going to miss anyway!

Hope it wasn't a premonition and that's what's in store for me at the Summer Conclave!

Don't worry Dave - I'll make sure you don't suffer any waking nightmares!

Joe at Warhammer World has been in contact to confirm there are six tables booked plus our regular terrain. Even if there aren't grand numbers I think we're all in for a good time regardless.
